ואבואה אל-מזבח אלהים אל-אל שמחת גילי ואודך בכנור אלהים אלהי
Then will I go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy; and I will praise thee with the lyre, O God my God
Parents choose a particular name to bestow upon a male child at eight days old which they hope will accurately describe the character and spiritual aspirations contained in his neshama. The name Gilad can be seen as a contraction of two Hebrew words, גיל and עד meaning everlasting visceral happiness. There is no better name which captures Gilad Schwartz, as Chazal say Kishmo Ken Hu, his name is an accurate representation of who he was. It is interesting that the above Pasuk in Tehillim encapsulates so much of who Gilad was; spirituality born out of a happiness which is so forceful that it physically and viscerally moves you, accompanied by a stringed instrument which it in itself is a vehicle of spiritual inspiration. In trying to create something which, on a daily basis, will allow young people to attain these spiritual heights, the Schwartz family has chosen to both build a GILAD, a song and dance studio at Machane Stone as well as endow a scholarship in Gilad's name to enable needy children to attend Machane . Indeed it is a great privilege and honor for Gilad's memory to be perpetuated in this manner in a place which meant so much to him.
