Everyone enjoyed a nice crisp night at the lina – warm from sleeping bags and the campfire. Perfect 🙂

By the way, correction from yesterday: Kaytana DID sleep out at the lina last night!! yay kaytana!! So, if your child never slept out in the Great Outdoors  – they have now.

Each eidah had yummy hot dogs and corn on the cob and sang around the fire and schmoozed in their sleeping bags (girls and boys kept apart in different sections, of course!)

Our schedule got back on track with tefillah back in camp this morning and shiur about the mitzvah of Yishuv HaAretz – living in Israel – in the classical sources.

Big news here is that The Village opened today!! That means chanichim are working in glass blowing, blacksmithing and baking (in the brick oven). Children who are new to Camp Stone are going to be soooo impressed! The one big surprise this year is an “escape room” in The Village. Once this blogger goes to see it for herself, there will be more details on that 😉 The Village in Camp Stone is a unique experience for all ages where they can be involved in the arts of long ago and learn about our time period in history hands-on.  You’ll hopefully hear more about that in their letters home – which should be sounding happier and more settled this week 😉

Another big news item from Machane: laundry went out for each eidah!! That IS a big deal here – ha!

Lastly, we have our musical director here from Israel, Dov’le Shachor, who is planning something so special…but it’s a secret for now. So that was practiced tonight after dinner…sorry cannot say anything else 😉

Kaytana had Color War today! Aharon vs. Moshe with many races and games and a big Apache Race. The kids loved it!! They had presentations with a shelet (sign painted on wood), a song and a cheer. Instead of announcing a winner each team was recognized by receiving some awards – no one kept track of the different team awards. Everyone got a few and everyone is a winner…and we called it a day!

Machal…was on a hike in the Allegheny National Forest learning about building community.

About the Chanukah Raffle

Dear Camp Stone Community,

It is an incredible feeling to reconnect with everyone once again at the beginning of our 2021 camp season.

We are writing to you today, first and foremost, to express tremendous gratitude.

Hakarat HaTov, literally “recognizing the good”, is an important and fundamental principle in our community. We, at Camp Stone, want to express our Hakarat HaTov to everyone receiving this email for your unwavering support, especially this past summer. Whether you provided financial assistance through your donated tuition dollars, participated in Indoor World, or connected with the Camp Stone community in other ways, together we had an incredibly successful, albeit different, summer experience.

There is no substitute for being in Sugar Grove, Pennsylvania, and this summer, B’ezrat Hashem, we will be back at Camp Stone, in person, in full force.

To achieve that goal, we must continue to ensure the financial success of our home away from home that we all know and love so deeply. The logo on top, featuring the slogan “Stone. Forever.” also features a Ner Tamid, an “eternal flame.” The year 1969, etched into the logo, is the year camp was founded. Symbolically, the overall image represents the idea that Camp Stone began many years ago and must endure forever, always burning brightly, and always an integral part of our collective conscience.

On that note, we are excited to announce that our annual Chanukah Campaign will be a raffle taking place over all 8 nights of Chanukah with prizes for both campers and parents/alumni!!
